Is there a chance for overthrow of the regime in Serbia?
Boba, yahoo.com
Q: Is there a chance for overthrow of the regime in Serbia?
The key issue is how much the West needs Milosevic. They needed him
for Dayton agreement, for Kosovo; there's no way of knowing what their
interests are and how much longer they'll use him. And it seems that
the opposition in Serbia can not cope with that problem without some
help from outside.
There is always "the Romanian way". The army is withdrawing, number of
refugees from Kosovo is increasing by day, the country is completely
devastated and people don't dare to think about forthcoming winter.
Will the dissatisfaction be strong enough and, which is even more
important, pointed in the right direction, remains to be seen. The
regime here has mastered media manipulation a long time ago and it is
questionable whether they would be able to hide the situation under
the proclaimed "victory and protected sovereignty" much longer.
