At 23:50 and 00:10 on 08-06-1999, Novi Sad refinery was attacked with 10 missiles. Several bombs struck nearby residential area of Sangaj, in 7th street. Milan Bajic, age 37 was killed. Eight people were seriously injured, among them is one 11 year old boy. Large number of houses in Sangaj is destroyed and damaged. Eyewitnesses said that this was fiercest attack on Novi Sad so far. Around midnight, several explosions were heard from direction of Fruska Gora mountain.

Power grid in Novi Sad, just like in rest of Serbia, was under NATO attacks. Power supplying and hence water and bread supplying are highly irregular and unstable. With its attacks on power grid in Serbia NATO willingly created real humanitarian catastrophe of 10 million people. Ironically, only Milosevic regime is spared.

Zezelj bridge, which had been damaged in recent attacks, was hit with four missiles in the early afternoon. There is no information on casualties. People living on Srem side of Danube (Petrovaradin, Sremski Karlovci) are often without water, since they have been depending on Novi Sad water system. The attacks so far disabled the bridge for traffic. This is the seventh destroyed bridge on the Danube.

NATO is targeting the oil refinery in Novi Sad day by day. Due to frequent fires, clouds of smoke blanket the city. Residential buildings in the vicinity were substantially damaged due to frequent quakes, and most of residents were evacuated because of possible toxic gas poisoning.
Note: acid rains appeared in Novi Sad today, as one of our members testifies. This is just one of the results of the destruction of the refinery in Novi Sad, as well as other chemical facilities across Yugoslavia.

An explosion of a petroleum refinery hit in the suburbs of Novi Sad. A thick cloud of smoke enveloped the town and petroleum spilled from damaged tanks into the Danube river forming a 4 km long spill.
